What is Moose?
Moose is my computer: originally a Compaq Presario SR2109UK, but suitably hacked and bashed since then. This page will keep a track of all of his upgrades, in case you're interested.
In the distant future
- Case: Coolermaster Cosmos RC1000 -- should be vv quiet, and it looks the bees' knees. I should be getting this at easter, as I need it before I fit the motherboard.
- Motherboard: XFX 780i -- A beast of a motherboard, runs the top of the range nVidia nForce chipset for amazing SLI, which I'll need. I should be getting this in the summer, along with a new copy of winduhs for all my loveley games.
- CPUS: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 -- A beast of a CPU - four cores running at 2.4 GHz, and at a bargain price of about £160. I'll get this with the motherboard.
- GPU: XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog edition -- 8800GT is the best in the 8000 series imho, and I may even have two of these. This will be at Christmas, with the PSU
- PSU: Corsair HX620 -- powerful enough for 2x8800GTs, and very quiet. Plus, it's efficient, cool and modular. One of SPCR's, and a lot of other peoples, favouite PSU.
Now
- Case: some nameless Compaq case
- Motherboard: Asus NODUSM3 motherboard. Yes, I know...
- CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (2.2GHz)
- RAM: 1GB of nameless RAM in two 512MB chunks, 1GB Crucial Ram in one 1GB chunk
- GFX: nVidia GeForce 7600GT (256MB)
- HDD: 400GB SATA, 120GB SATA
- DVD: 1 x DVD writer reader etc
